ENDLESS SKY, DARK SORROW

"ENDLESS SKY, DARK SORROW" or ESDS takes place in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. In the near distant future, humanity lives in scattered, walled off cities around the world, choked endlessly by a dangerous, encroaching red fog that surrounds their perimeters. ESDS centers around Ashley and Michael Gray, two soldiers of a paramilitary force underneath the jurisdiction of Red Eyes, a company originating in Paradise City with influences on the military and government.
The man-made ANATHEMATA illness spreads with airborne scales from mutated HYALOPHORA CECROPIA moths, wiping out most of the population and reducing them to zombies. Survivors pick up the pieces left in the illness's wake in hopes to live another day.
Ash and Mike are deployed in Paradise for a simple extraction mission: Get in, retrieve classified Red Eyes documents, kill all "threats", and then get out before it's too late.
A DIMENSION THAT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE OPENED.
A hiker is found dead in the outskirts of the Paradise City mountains. Another hiker is found, delirious, claiming to see a realm beyond ours. A mysterious illness breaks out along the riverside, due to another corpse washing up on the riverbank. These incidents are quickly covered up by Red Eyes. Near these incidents, mutated Hyalophora Cecropia moths are discovered living in a cave, and are immune to the harmful effects of the red fog. Red Eyes scientists located at the Paradise military base are interested in these moths, and begin experiments.
The moths were found to have mutations in their scales, a unique enzyme with interesting properties. The end goal of the Red Eyes scientists was to make genetically modified, fog-immune super soldiers.
The enzymes had horrible effects on the humans Red Eyes were experimenting on. People affected by the moths undergo severe hallucinations, delusions, hostility, and mutations. One of the scientists became obsessed with this aspect of the experiment.
It was not a failure. It was a success.
He saw the moths as a dream omen. An escape from this destroyed world: A portal to another dimension. The true reality.
He will be the bearer of the righteous reality, a world of magnificent creation. He will pave the way for the Moth's Children.
Ash and Michael defect from the R.E.C.S. They must survive in what remains of Paradise City, assisting other survivors while trying to find out what really happened there. They protect each other from the monstrous horrors that bleed through from the other world that threatens to tear them apart.
